You have the desire to achieve and maintain success in whichever way you understand this for yourself. This means, from now on, you are willing to take on the mindset and habits of those who are incredibly successful.
These people who have got what you are aiming at, are in fact not so very much different from you. They only do 5 things differently and from today you too will start making those 5 success habits a permanent and powerful part of your daily life.
Habit Nr.1: You Do What You Hate FIrst
Naturally successful people do what they do not want to do to get where they want to be and they do what they dislike first.
If they have to make a difficult call, they do it first. Doing the things you do not want to do makes you feel like a winner and doing them first in your day sets you up for a better feeling throughout your entire day.
This means, as you get up early in the morning, you do not say: “Gosh, it’s 5.00 am. It is pitch black and I am going running?!, or I am doing my paperwork?!…I do not feel like doing it.” Instead, you say to yourself repetitively: “I have chosen this, I have chosen to feel good about it. I want to do this.”
Those who do not succeed, will give up their dreams before they do what they do not want to do. But this doesn’t have to be YOU.
You are the opposite in every way. Driven-Ambitious-Highly Motivated. Focused.Single- minded.
Habit Nr.2: You Take Action Every Day In The Direction of Your Goals
You do not have to spend the whole day doing it, but you take action every single day, as this action makes you feel like a winner. A simple daily action elevates your feelings of success, commitment and dedication, the more you act as a winner, the more you feel like one.
Habit Nr.3: You do not accept “NO” for an answer.
You are rejectionproof. When you come back from “NO” and from rejection, you know this is only a delay on your way to success, not a refusal. Deep down you know, you will be successful.
Your success requires never taking “No” for an answer and never allowing rejection to stop you.You get that and adhere to that.
Success requires manning up to rejection and you do this.
You cope with rejection. It is not personal and can not stop you, you are moving to success and it is moving towards you. What you want, wants you.
Because you have the talent, the drive, the talent and you know it. And it shows.
Habit NR.4: You delay gratification
You are well able to resist temptation, in fact, you are completely indifferent to it.
The opposite of “love” is not “hate”, it is indifference. So, you easily choose chicken salad over fast food,
half an hour of meditation over Netflix entertainment.
You stick to your goals, because it gives you such a nice feeling of contentment.
Delaying gratification is a central part of your behavior. You put off what you want now, so that you can perhaps get something else, something better, later on.
Choosing a long-term reward over immediate gratification is very familiar to you.
You understand that the ability to delay gratification can mean the difference between achieving your goals or not. Your ability to resist and receive a later (and even better) reward is impressive..
Habit Nr.5:You manage your mind
You master your mind. Above all, you understand, that your mind always must act upon your words. So you choose your words carefully. You deliberately think thoughts that empower and motivate you.
As a matter of fact, your mind is hard wired to drive you towards pleasure and away from pain. When you want a task done, regardless how heavy it might seem, you present it to your mind as something very pleasurable. When you dialog with yourself, you say: “I like it. I am loving it. To do one more phone call, even though I am hungry. I like it, to spend the weekend working before the big presentation”. You never complain, cause your mind would interprete it as pain and will sabotage your efforts to continue doing somthing that is associated with pain. In the end you will give it up. This is how powerful your mind is and you know it. And you dialog with your mind accordingly and appropriately.
Your mind responds to the pictures you make in your head and the words you say to yourself.
You choose to say to your mind words that move you to success. Changing the images and the words is what you have taken as a responsibility. You do not say: “This is a challenge”. Insteat, you go: “This is an oppportunity”. Different words, different pictures. Your brain takes every word you say as literal and accurate. This is why you choose positive words and the resulting feelings are also positive.
You tell yourself everthing ahead is manageable. And you tell yourself, you have phenomenal coping skills.
You know that your mind is wired to seek and return to what is familiar. To succeed, you make the familiar unfamiliar and vice versa.
You make praise and self-praise familiar, as it dramatically boosts your self-esteem.
What is more, you make self-discipline, pushing yourself further, believing in yourself and exercising regularly familiar.
You make putting yourself down, putting things off, procrastinating, negative language and critisism allien and unfamiliar to you. Once your mind has moved to new potential and dimensions, it will never come back.
First you make your habits and then your habits make you.
How much of the above sounds like naturally coming to you on a daily base? Did you catch yourself thinking: “Yes, that is what I would like for myself, but right now it just feels a bit too good to be true.”?
